About Xannie's Bees

When I was little, my dad was a backyard beekeeper. He got me involved by teaching me about bees and letting me help with harvesting (and tasting!) honey. I loved watching the bees and bumblebees in our garden and used to save them from drowning in our pond. Unfortunately, my dad had to give up his hobby after a few years, so no more bee hives in our garden.

Fast forwarding 30 years, I decided to become a beekeeper myself and acquired a small colony (swarm). This colony was too weak to survive, and I tried again with, yet another, weak colony, also not succeeding. I asked for help and attended a course with a very enthousiastic beekeeper, where my passion was further ignited. I bought a healthy colony and have not looked back, learning new things every time I open a hive!

I love beekeeping. Being with bees makes me calm, it helps me with my mental wellbeing. I also love that in a small way, I help to make the environment a bit better.

My goal is to raise awareness about the importance and need for native- and honey bees, as well as other pollinators
